EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP 2009
PLATINUM LEVEL -- $30,000
• Sponsor the University of Toronto Gut Club meetings
These meetings are held once a month for 10 months. They attract 30-40 gastroenterologists
and residents from the Toronto area. Each meeting will provide full recognition to one
sponsor. Number of meetings per sponsor depends on number of sponsors at this level and
professorship sponsored by companies at the Gold level (it is estimated that a maximum of 3
professorships will be organized in a year).
• Sponsor a Professor with full recognition (one sponsor per event).
For this professorship program, the University of Toronto GI Program will invite an excellent
speaker of international reputation to present at 1) the University of Toronto Gut Club or an
equivalent venue; 2) one Medical Grand Round or an event of similar importance and 3) at
the GI resident half-day on Wednesday. In addition, meetings with the GI faculty will be
organized. This sponsorship level will cover the cost of the program and of the speaker (transportation, meals, accommodation for 2 nights in Toronto + honorarium) at a maximum
cost of $10,000. The University of Toronto GI Program and the designated sponsor will work
in close collaboration to organize this event.
• Provide a “booth” at the GI Research Day (June 24th , 2009).
This will be the biggest event of the year. GI trainees, fellows, postgraduate students and
Faculty will present abstracts on their research projects and gastroenterologists from the
University of Toronto will meet to celebrate the end of the academic year. Research and
teaching awards will be presented at the dinner. A keynote speaker from another GI program
in Canada will be invited to present his/her research and promote GI research. Sponsors may
set-up a table-top or free standing display (size depends on the space at the venue). Sponsors
will be recognized on signage throughout the event. Two representatives of each company at
the Platinum Sponsor level will be invited to the dinner and one representative from each
company will be introduced from the podium and thanked for their commitment.
• Sponsor at least one Citywide journal club on Friday morning (number of journal clubs
depends on the number of sponsors).
This event is videoconferenced to several teaching sites in Toronto and on occasions, it is also
videoconferenced abroad. The number of participants is usually about 50.
• Sponsor at least one half-day teaching session (including lunch) to GI residents (number of
sessions depends on the number of sponsors). These sessions are held weekly on Wednesday
(except summer, holiday season and AGA).
• Co-sponsor the Orientation Day held in July to welcome the new GI residents.
This event usually attracts about 20-30 gastroenterologists from the different University
Hospitals. Sponsors will be recognized on signage.
• Co-sponsor the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Research Rounds
This event is organized 4-6 times a year. A researcher of international reputation is usually
invited to present his/her research. The event includes a dinner and usually attracts about 20
gastroenterologists. Sponsors will be recognized on signage and one IBD sponsor per event
will be thanked at the dinner.
• Recognition of the level of sponsorship with company logo on the webpage: “Sponsors of

• Sponsors will be placed on the circulation list (e-mails) for the events organized by the
