Biosketch

Dr. Beverley Richardson

Dr. Richardson received her MD (1972) from the University of Toronto. She currently serves as the Chair of the Sunnybrook and Women's (S&W) Department of Medicine Gender Issues Committee. The committee's mandate is to further the S&W mission to be a leader in women's health in the Department of Medicine. This includes the teaching of women's health, the promotion of gender sensitive research as well as gender appropriate clinical service delivery. Dr. Richardson organizes the twice monthly CME accredited Women's Health/Gender Lens noon rounds series. Her hospital related committee memberships include the S&W Women's Health Committee, Vice-Chair of the Women's College Health Research Board and the Women's College Hospital Ambulatory Care Centre (WCACC) Board. She is a member of the University of Toronto Department of Medicine Gender Issues Committee.

Dr. Richardson's practice is centred at the WCACC. This teaching practice has an ongoing interest in women's health as it relates to patients with digestive diseases and their health issues.


Biosketch

Dr. Susan Stafford

Dr. Stafford received her medical degree from the University of Toronto and then completed her training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto.

She joined the medical staff at the Women's College Hospital in 1975 and from 1987 to 2000 served as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Women's College Hospital. Dr. Stafford is currently Director-Medicine, Patient Care Services at the Women's College campus of Sunnybrook & Women's.

Dr. Stafford is a clinician teacher with a primary focus on ambulatory teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has a large clinical practice in general gastroenterology with a special interest in gender differences in colorectal cancer. Dr. Stafford is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.


Biosketch

Dr. Jeff Stal

Dr. Stal received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1992. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1995 and then completed subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of Western Ontario in 1997.  Dr. Stal joined the Division of Gastroenterology at Women's College Hospital in 1998 as a clinician teacher and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Stal is the Director of Undergraduate Education for the GI division, U of T.  He is the Education Coordinator for the GI division at WCH and represents WCH on the GI, U of T, Education Committee.  He is the Co-Manager of GI Week during the Foundations of Medical Practice course for the year 2 students and is a PBL tutor during the Internal Medicine weeks of the same course.  Dr. Stal is the Internal Medicine Clerkship Coordinator for the Department of Medicine and is the supervisor of the Women’s Health ACE rotation for year 4 students at WCH.  He is the WCH representative on the Clinical Clerkship Committee at U of T and is the Coordinator of the year 4 Internal Medicine OSCE exam.

In 2004, Dr. Stal completed the two-year Master Teacher Program offered by the Department of Medicine at U of T.  In 2005, he was the recipient of the Ambulatory Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook & Women’s College in recognition of excellence in teaching in the outpatient setting of both undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees.  In 2007, Dr. Stal was the recipient of the WCH Pre-Clerkship Education Award for outstanding performance and lasting contribution to Pre-Clerkship Education.
